TC4 Titanium Alloy 3D Printing:

TC4, also known as Ti-6Al-4V, is a widely used titanium alloy in additive manufacturing due to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility.
This alloy is commonly 3D printed using powder bed fusion processes like selective laser melting (SLM) and electron beam melting (EBM).
The high strength and lightweight properties of 3D printed TC4 parts make them ideal for aerospace, medical, and industrial applications such as aircraft components, orthopedic implants, and tooling.


Printing Accuracy:

The general achievable accuracy for 3D printing of TC4 titanium alloy parts is in the range of ±0.05 mm to ±0.2 mm.
This level of dimensional precision is possible with state-of-the-art metal 3D printing systems and careful control of process parameters like powder characteristics, layer thickness, laser/electron beam settings, and part orientation.


Factors Affecting Accuracy:

Powder particle size distribution - Finer powders (15-45 μm) enable higher printing resolution.
Layer thickness - Thinner layers (typically 20-100 μm) result in better feature definition.
Laser/electron beam power and scan speed - Higher power and faster scan speeds can improve part accuracy.
Part geometry and orientation - Careful part placement and support structures minimize distortion.
Post-processing - Heat treatments, HIPing, and CNC machining can further refine part dimensions.
